French World Cup-winning superstar Zinedine Zidane has labelled former Brazil striker Ronaldo as not only the best forward of his generation, but the most gifted footballer that he ever had the pleasure to play with.
The pair were teammates at Real Madrid and in an interview with French television show Telefoot, Zidane declared: “The best striker, the best player I ever played with.”
Current French forward Karim Benzema, who is himself having something of a stellar season, added: “He is the best striker of all time. He knows everything, dribbling, scoring.”
“You have to be inspired by such players. He made me dream and he will alwyas make me dream.”
Zidane scored one of the Champions League’s most iconic goals when he netted a sublime volley against Leverkusen in the 2002 Hampden final, whereas Benzema will be hoping to make it ten European triumphs for Real when he lines up against Atletico Madrid in this year’s showpiece game.
