Despite impressing at AS Roma whilst on loan from Middle Eastern side Al Ain, Brazilian midfielder Michel Bastos is still unsure of his future role at the club as the current season draws to a close.

Coach Rudi Garcia has impressed enormously in his first year in Italy and, after a somewhat shaky festive period in terms of results, decided to bring in his former Lille player Bastos to bolster Roma’s ranks. The move has paid off as Bastos has featured regularly in maintaining the side from the capital’s Champions League aspirations for next term.

But in terms of a permanent deal for the 30 year-old, his representative, Emanuel de Kerchove, told Calcio Mercato: “Michel has had a great time at Roma.”

“His feeling towards the group and Rudi Garcia is very positive. But, for now, it has not been officialy decided whether the club will keep him or not.”
