Spanish newspaper Marca has claimed that Diego Costa’s protracted move to Chelsea from Atletico Madrid is a done deal and that the transfer will be announced upon completion of this season’s Champions League, where the striker will be aiming to leave on a high with the trophy.

Brazilian-born Costa, 25, who has represented the country of his birth in two friendlies, is poised to play for Spain at the upcoming World Cup after a lengthy struggle over his international services.

And reports in Marca are confirming that Costa will ply his trade in the English capital next term after sealing a €40 million deal which will earn the player €20 million after tax on a five-year contract.

It is not known whether Chelsea will also swoop for teammate Filipe Luis or if current Atletico loanee Thibaut Courtois will stay in the Spanish capital as part of the Costa deal.

Atletico face city rivals Real Madrid in the big Champions League finale in Lisbon’s Esdadio da Luz on May 24.
