Defender Henrique’s proposed move from Girondins de Bordeaux to Fluminense in his home country appears to have moved a step closer after the player took to social media to thank the French club’s fans and offer a goodbye of sorts to them.

The 31 year-old wrote on his Instagram account: “a new story”; “Bordeaux forever”; and “thank you”, after it was reorted that the former Flamengo player would swap Europe for Brazil in the near future.

He has been in the South of France since a 2005 move and was part of the team that won the French championship in 2009, as well as the league cup in the same year.

Although uncapped by Brazil at any level, Henrique has earned a reputation as a solid centre back during his time away from his homeland.
