Chelsea midfielder Oscar has explained that an injury to his abductor has kept him of action of late.

The 22 year-old"s missed the last two games against Liverpool and Atlético Madrid, while he was also used as a substitute in the 1-0 win at Swansea City.

“I"m not playing because I felt a pain due to an injury to the abductor," he told Globo Sport, as reported by The Guardian. “In the last game against Liverpool I was not called on. Yes, I warmed up [against Atlético] but [Chelsea manager José] Mourinho knew that I could hardly play. Maybe I will not play the next game because I could get a more serious abductor injury and he knows it."

Oscar also admitted that he is being extra careful with his recuperation, as the World Cup is just around the corner.

“We"re treating me to try to play the final match of the Premier League, but I have to take care for the World Cup," he continued. "We still have two very important games in the Premier League because Chelsea can be champions, but it is important to rest because the World Cup is here."
