Guilherme Siqueira believes Benfica deserved to beat Juventus in their Europa League semi-final.
The Águias held on to secure a 0-0 draw at Juventus Stadium on Thursday night and progress into the final with a 2-1 aggregate victory.
“Benfica know our strengths, we try to defend strong and then go on the counter with four or five players,” Siqueira told Sky Sport Italia, as reported by Football Italia. “What we did in Lisbon gave us the confidence to come here and play.
“Juve are a spectacular side, but Benfica were warriors tonight and this qualification was more than deserved.
“We don’t think about the past, as what happened last season helped the team to prepare for the future. We won the title in Portugal and now have three Finals.”
The victory over Juventus means Benfica can still secure the quadruple. They have already won the Primeira Liga and are in the final of both the Taça da Liga and Taça de Portugal, as well as the Europa League.
