Santos Sporting Director Andre Zanotta has confirmed he wants to bring Diego back to the club.
The Brazilian is currently contracted to Atlético Madrid, but could be free to leave at the end of the season.
Zanotta admits negotiations could be complicated, but insists Diego will always be welcomed back to the Clube do Povo.
“It’s a difficult negotiation,” stated Zanotta to Globo Esporte, as reported by Sky Sports.
“Diego is shining at the moment in a club that is a big success this year. We talked with his father, but there is nothing certain yet.
“It’s a dream, we would really live to bring Diego here, but can’t say he is close. He is a player we are always interested, no matter who runs the club. The club’s doors will always be open because of the success he had here.”
