New Botafogo striker Emerson Sheik, who last month completed a protracted move to the Rio de Janeiro side from Corinthians, says he is happy now and praised the collective spirit of his new teammates as after scoring on his club debut in the Brazilian championship draw with internacional last weekend.

Qatar international Emerson, 35, told goal: “I scored on my debut, but I like to share the merits. We had a very good week where the coaching staff planned especially so I could train physically to play the whole game.”

“The crowd enjoy me and like me, that’s cool.”

“Regardless of the amount of fans who are supporting us, the determination will be the same.”

Botafogo, who disappointingly went out of this year’s Copa Libertadores in the group stages, next face Bahia away in the Brasileirao on Sunday afternoon.
