Júlio César is hopeful that Toronto FC will be in a strong position when he departs to represent Brazil at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

The goalkeeper, who is on loan from Queens Park Rangers, admits the tournament’s on his mind, but is determined to first succeed with Toronto FC.

“Obviously the World Cup is a big event, it’s on the world stage, but right now my focus is on helping Toronto FC,” he said, as reported by mlssoccer.com. “I want to leave them in a great place before I go to the World Cup.”

Júlio César also confirmed he has spoken to Brazil Head Coach Luiz Felipe Scolari and hopes that the veteran tactician will come out to the United States to watch him play.

“I asked him to come here to visit us, to see the training ground and everything, to come to the MLS to see a game,” he continued. “I saw on a website he went to London to see some players, he went to Germany, and I was a bit jealous. So I told him to come here as well: ‘It’s a nice league, and you’ll be surprised.’”
