Arena Pantanal in Cuiaba passes World Cup warm-up hostingThe Arena Pantanal has a capacity of just under 43,000
A second World Cup warm-up match took place yesterday at the Arena Pantanal in Cuiaba as Luverdense beat Vasco da Gama in their Serie B fixture, with Organising Committee members (LOC) testing out various aspects of the newly-built venue ahead of this summer's international tournament.
Almost 18,000 were at the game, where facets such as waste management, transport, catering and security were being assessed by FIFA delegates to ensure that the Pantanal will deliver its targets. LOC Stadium Operations Manager Tiago Paes told the media after the game that "we are pleased with how things went in each area and with operations at the Arena Pantanal overall."
The Cuiaba stadium, which has been under intense scrutiny to be ready in time for the World Cup, will host four group games in the competition, the first of which being a Group B encounter between Chile and Australia on June 13.
