Real Madrid’s Brazilian wing back Marcelo has spoken of his joy at returning to club action yesterday following a month out with a hamstring injury, as Spain’s most successful side kept up their slim chances of winning this season’s La Liga crown.
A 4-0 win over Osasuna maintained Real’s challenge to current leaders and Marcelo told reporters after the game: “I was eager to return.”
“I wanted to help the side and, thanks to God, the doctors and physios That-have helped me and I’m 100% ensured.”
“When I’m available to help the side and the boss doesn’t pick me it is normal I’m not happy and I want to play. The manager decides and I want to play as many matches as possible.”
Marcelo’s return is a boost to Brazil as well as Real, with the expectation being that the 25 year-old will claim a starting berth at this summer’s World Cup.
