Atletico Mineiro replace Autori with Levir Culpi after poor run of results
Atletico Mineiro have moved swiftly to resolve their recent troubling form by ousting Paulo Autori and appointing Levir Culpi to the position of head coach after a period wherby they have struggled to score any goals and win any games.
The defending Copa Libertadores champions, who are still in the competition this year despite losing the first leg of their second round tie at Colombian side Atletico Nacional, have gone for a coach that has spent the past few years coaching in Japan, although Culpi briefly coach Mineiro in 2006, winning the Serie B title.
Atletico's loss to Nacional in the Copa in midweek was the final straw for club president Alexandre Kalil, who had seen his team score a paltry one goal in five games and lose their opening Brasileirao fixture to Atletico Paranaense last weekend.
And Levir Culpi, who will actually been in his fourth stint at the club, is the man charged with turning around the fortunes of Galo in 2014.
