Atlético Madrid attacker Diego Ribas admitted he was disappointed not to beat Chelsea on Tuesday night but did concede it wasn’t the worst result possible.

Atlético played out a goalless draw with Premier League Chelsea in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final’s and when speaking to AS after the game, the Brazilian revealed his regret at the final scoreline.

“This wasn’t our objective. We wanted more but we couldn’t find the goal,” Diego said.

“It’s not a bad result. The game is still open and it might be different next time.

“We have to be smart and take advantage of our opportunities.”

Diego was asked about his substitution and if he was disappointed not to complete the 90 minutes.

He also revealed his thoughts on the second leg suspension of captain Gabi.

Football Espana quoted the Brazilian, he said: “I was prepared to play but the coach Diego Simeone knows when to put me in. I respect that.

“We have to prepare well for the next match. We would like Gabi with us but we will remain competitive.”
