Ramires believes Chelsea have to switch their attention to beating Liverpool this weekend, rather than concentrate on the second leg of their Champions League semi-final next Wednesday.

Atlético Madrid and Chelsea played out a goalless draw on Tuesday night, a result which firmly leaves the tie in the balance.

After the game the Brazilian spoke to Lancenet.com about the upcoming week, he said: “We can’t even think much about the result in Madrid, although it wasn’t bad.

“We have to focus on the Premier League.

“The fight for the title is hard but if we beat Liverpool, we can win the league. We are focused on both fronts.

“Our thought is that any team would like to be in our place, fighting for a place in the Champions League final and fighting for the national title.”

Ramires went on to admit that he and his fellow countryman haven’t even had time to think about the national team recently, such is their focus on current matters with the west London club.

“It’s been such decisive days that we can’t even think about the Brazilian national team call-ups,” Ramires said.

“This shows how much we are focused.”
