Atletico Mineiro will tonight attempt to take a further step closer to defending the Copa Libertadores title they won last year when they travel to Colombia to take on Atletico Nacional in the first leg of their second round tie.
The Brazilian outfit, one of only three teams from the country to reach this stage, did so by topping Group 4 and were mobbed at Medellin airport upon arrival as fans clamoured to catch a glimpse of Mineiro’s stars, notably Ronaldinho Gaucho.
According to reports in the Brazilian media, striker Jo is the only real fitness doubt for the visiting team, who have not conceded a goal in four games (only scoring once themselves in the process), a run stretching back to the Libertadores draw against Santa Fe in Argentina.
