River Plate forward Teófilo Gutiérrez has recalled what watching the World Cup was like for him growing up.

The 28 year-old, who is expected to represent Colombia this summer, remembers the 1998 tournament particularly clearly, with the magic of Ronaldo and Rivaldo catching his eye.

“Watching the World Cup was something else,” he told FIFA.com. “Everyone in the neighbourhood would get together, we’d put a TV in the street and we’d watch the games. I remember 1998 very clearly, with Ronaldo, Rivaldo and the rest.

“We loved to watch good football, to see someone stroke the ball around, to hide it from the opposition and enjoy themselves on the pitch, which is the most important thing.”
