Atlético Madrid midfielder Diego Ribas has backed team mate Thibaut Courtois to play great against Chelsea tonight in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final.
Courtois has been at the centre of much controversy since the two teams progressed to the last four and even more so when they were drawn together.
The Belgium keeper is on loan at Atlético from Chelsea and despite a loan agreement initially insisting Los Colchoneros would have to pay the Blues €3 million if the stopper played, Uefa overruled the clause.
And now Brazilian Diego believes the 21-year-old keeper will perform well again tonight.
Goal.com quoted Diego after he spoke to El Mundo, he said: “This situation is not a problem for us.
“Courtois is very calm, as always. He is ready to play and is going to do great.
“Courtois is an exemplary professional, despite his youth, and he is sure to be the same as always in Tuesday’s game.”
