Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood has insisted that Sandro must earn his place in the first-team.

The Brazilian midfielder took to Twitter to vent his frustration at being overlooked for Saturday’s 3-1 win against Fulham.

Despite Sandro’s comments, Sherwood maintains that only players who perform well in training will be included in his match day squad.

“Are there many fans screaming out there ‘why ain’t Sandro playing? I don’t know,” said the tactician, as reported by Sky Sports.

“If that is what he is trying to say, I am not sure. The squad goes up, I show my hand early. I don’t care about showing my hand.

“I tell them pretty much on the Thursday the team shape and they know that they are not playing.

“I don’t expect any one of them not playing to be happy with it but I expect them to be professional and work hard to get back into the next squad.

“If they don’t show me that then they will not be in the next squad and they will continue to be the same.”
