Atetico Mineiro playmaker Ronaldinho has called for calm after his side opened their Brasileiro league campaign with a goalless draw against Corinthians and labelled the result acceptable, at the same time as admitting that he needs games to get up to full speed.

The 2002 World Cup winner an former world player of the year, 34, told reporters after the game: “We feel there was a little lack of pace, rhythm is what I need. The more I play, the more I’ll have it. I’ll keep working because we have important games coming up.”

“It was the first game away from home so it was important to win a point. We always search for victory, but then we have the advantage of playing them at home in the return match. If we take four of the six points out of the duel, it will be good.”

Mineiro face a busy week as they now travel to Colombia for their Copa Libertadores second round first leg encounter with National, which takes place on Wednesday.
