Atlético Madrid midfielder Diego Ribas has praised fellow compatriots Willian and Oscar ahead of Tuesday night’s Champions League clash against Chelsea.

Diego will face Oscar and Willian, as well as a number of other Brazilians possibly, at the Vicente Calderón in the semi-final of the Champions League and the 29-year-old expects a strong challenge.

Talking at an open media day event on Sunday, the Brazilian was quoted by Inside Spanish Football about the match.

First Diego talked about Atlético winning, he said: “If we are in this position it’s because we prepared well and the past doesn’t count.

“The work we’re doing is what we need to continue doing and the possibilities are equal for both sides, regardless of their name or the names on the back of their shirt.

“Things are always difficult in the Champions League and you have to know how to play the games by preparing very well and that’s what we’re doing.”

Diego then discussed his fellow Brazilians, adding: “They’ll be strong on Tuesday and that’s what we expect.  They have great players like Willian and Oscar, who we need to account for in addition to the others.”
