Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood has explained why he overlooked Sandro for Saturday’s 3-1 win against Fulham.

The Brazilian midfielder, who was left out of the 18 man match day squad, confirmed on Twitter that he wasn’t injured and had simply been overlooked.

Speaking after the game, Sherwood confirmed Sandro’s statement and noted that his preference at the moment is to use Nacer Chadli and Paulinho in central midfield.

“I like Sandro’s qualities, but in my eyes it wasn’t right to put him in the squad – other people are ahead of him,” said Sherwood after the game, as reported by Sky Sports.

“I think Nacer Chadli’s done well in there and I think Paulinho’s done well in there.”
