The Brazilian midfielder has stressed that his focus is currently on helping Manchester City win the Premier League title.

Despite only making six appearances for the Seleção, and only one under current boss Luiz Felipe Scolari, Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho is considered by many to be guaranteed a place in this year’s World Cup squad.

The 28-year-old, however, has revealed that his is not currently thinking about any such call-up.

“My head is relaxed, because I need to think about the last few games in the Premier League as these are important to me and to everyone at the club.”

“Of course, as soon as the Premier League finishes I’ll start thinking about the World Cup. I had a chance against South Africa and I gave my best. It’s not worth losing a night’s sleep over but I hope my name will be on the list.”

Already adapted to English football, Fernandinho has been trying to enjoy his time off to get to know the city of Manchester.

“Manchester isn’t a touristic city, it’s industrial,” he said. “There are not a lot of things to do. I try to take my children to play in parks and we go to shopping centres and to restaurants. We have to enjoy our time together as the calendar is packed.”
