Renato Augusto is expected to be fit enough to be named in Corinthians’ squad for their opening Brasileiro league fixture this weekend against Atletico Mineiro in Uberlandia.

The 26 year-old former Flamengo attacking midfielder, who joined the club in 2013, took a full part in training according to reports in the Brazilan media and head coach Mario Menezes said: “He responded well to training. I always say that the most important part is to convince the head of the player.”

If fit enought to start the game, Renato could feature alongside fellow creative force and new signing Jadson, behind the strike duo of Romarinho and Malcom.

Augusto has played three times for Brazil since making his debut in 2011 but will not be in consideration for Luiz Felipe Scolari’s World Cup plans this year.
