Brazil’s best clubs will battle it out this weekend as the Brasileirão sees it first round of this season’s matches take place across the country.
Whilst some state championships have finished, others are drawing to a close as Brazil’s cluttered football calendar sees the national championship begin early to allow for a break for the World Cup in less than two months’ time.
The first games of this year’s Campeonato Brasileiro will see Fluminense take on Figueirense and Internacional take on Vitória on Saturday afternoon.
Other fixtures to look out for this weekend will include Botafogo’s visit to São Paulo on Sunday, as well as Atlético-MG against Corinthians at the Estádio Municipal João Havelange and Santos against newly promoted Sport Recife, both on Sunday.
