Arenal are said to be monitoring Casemiro’s situation at Real Madrid as they look to prepare for next season after a disappointing end to the current campaign, in which their participation in the Champions League hangs in the balance.
Casemiro, 22, has played five times for Brazil already and was lauded as a fantastic prospect when he joined the Spanish giants in 2013 from Sao Paulo.
However, opportunities have been limited this term at the Bernabeu and Arsenal head coach Arsene Wenger is said to be plotting a move for the midfielder this summer.
Journalist David Cartlidge said of Casemiro: “When appearing, he has done extremely well, most recently against Borussia Dortmund when he came on to great effect, calming an overloaded midfield.”
With Arsenal believed to have plenty of cash reserves, and plenty of need to upgrade the quality of their squad, a move for Casemiro would be popular amongst fans and potentially prove to be not too excessive a fee.
