Philippe Coutinho is using a famous Brazilian saying to inspire him to win Liverpool the Premier League title, and also keep alive his hopes of being selected for the World Cup.

Coutinho helped keep the Reds on course for the league when he scored the winner against Manchester City yesterday and speaking to the Daily Star prior to the game he discussed his year.

The Brazilian also added that he loves playing for a “massive club” like Liverpool, he said: “It’s been a great year for me.

“Of course, it’s a dream to play at a massive club like Liverpool and it’s been great for me since I’ve been here.

“I’m having a really good time here, I’m enjoying my football and the way the group connects is wonderful so I’ve been having a very good time this season.”

Although unlikely, Coutinho still dreams of being selected in Luiz Felipe Scolari’s World Cup squad.

He added: “It is a very special moment with Liverpool fighting for the title and I still have hopes of playing for Brazil in the World Cup.

“The famous saying in Brazil is ‘Brazilians never lose hope’ and I still hope for the World Cup.

“And, with my team pushing for the Premier League title, this really could be a very special two months.”
