Philippe Coutinho has praised Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers and revealed that he worries about his players.
The Brazilian was talking to the Daily Star prior to yesterday’s thrilling 3-2 win over Manchester City, a game in which Coutinho scored the winner.
And the 22-year-old revealed his affection for the manager that is getting the young playmaker playing some of the best football in his career.
Coutinho said: “Rodgers is a great manager – a manager who worries about his players and encourages the best from them.
“He worries about the players personally too and that is why he is one of the best managers in the Premier League.”
The Brazilian has flourished since moving to Anfield in January 2013 and he has discussed his manager’s apparent simplistic approach at how to get the best out of his players.
Coutinho added: “Brendan tells us to forget the excitement and the expectations when we are out on the pitch.
“He tells us to focus on the game, to try to do our best and not to worry about anything that’s happening around us.”
