Philippe Coutinho was Liverpool’s hero at Anfield this afternoon as he scored the decisive goal in their 3-2 victory over Premier League title rivals Manchester City.

In an end-to-end battle, the Brazilian was the match winner as he curled into the bottom corner with less than 15 minutes remaining to send the Liverpool fans into ecstasy.

Coutinho has often been criticised for his lack of goals, although his all round play has been widely praised, but it wasn’t just his winner that earned him the headlines.

The 21-year-old was sensational throughout and achieved some fantastic stats via Whoscored.com.

The playmaker had three shots and crucially hit the target once, for the winning goal. He also made two key passes and achieved one dribble as he terrorized City’s defence.

Most impressively however was the defensive contribution of Coutinho as staggeringly he made more tackles than any other Liverpool player – his six unsurprisingly the most of the match.

In the passing column the Brazilian displayed his skill as well. Coutinho had an 80% pass completion rate – this from 50 passes – and also made two accurate long balls.

Liverpool fans will without doubt remember Coutinho’s winner and it could become one of the biggest goals in the Reds history should they go on to win the Premier League title.
