1994 World Cup winner Jorginho has been unveiled as the new coach of UAE side Al Wasl, replacing experienced Argentine manager Hector Cuper with the club 12th in the Arabian Gulf League.

Jorginho, 49, made his name at German giants Bayern Munich and was also an assistant to ex-Brazil head coach Dunga.

He told gulfnews.com: “I have been out of Brazil for 11 years as a player and a coach and have trained in Japan and Europe and think that has given me good experience to perfrom well in the UAE.”

“I have had good feedback from fellow Brazilian Ze Mario, who won the league and cup double with Al Wasl in 2007, and current Brazilian players in the league such as Ricardo Oliveira, Grafite and Ciel.”

Jorginho has signed a one-year deal with the club and will start his role officially on June 20.
