Hellas Verona head coach Andrea Mandorlini believes Rômulo can play an important role for Italy, if he is selected for this summer’s World Cup.

The midfielder, who was born in Pelotas, Brazil, but qualifies to represent La Nazionale, has been called up by head coach Cesare Prandelli for physical testing.

Mandorlini has praised Rômulo’s versatility and wouldn’t be surprised if he quickly shows his worth.

“Rômulo’s strength is his versatility and he should be called Italy’s Joker in the Pack, as he can perform in many different roles,” he said, as reported by Football Italia.

“How did we congratulate him on his call-up? We sang him the Italian national anthem in training!”

Rômulo is on loan at Hellas Verona from Fiorentina. He has scored five goals and provided eight assists in 32 appearances for the Gialloblu this term.
