Cruzeiro defender Dede aims to add the Mineiro 1 state championship to his trophy cabinet come Sunday evening and insists that he is as hungry as ever to win medals, no matter the size of them.

Having won the Serie B championship and then the Copa do Brasil with Vasco da Gama in 2009 and 2011 respectively, Dede went on to become a crucial part of Cruzeiro’s Serie A title win in 2013 and would love the Mineiro 1 to go alongside his triumphs.

The first leg of the final against Atletico Mineiro finished 0-0.

Talking with the club’s official website, the 25 year-old said: “I have not won a state championship in my career, it’s a big goal, a very important personal goal.”

“A title is a title and it gives alot of confidence to the team. We know it will not be esay but rather we will have a tough task against Atletico MG.”

Dede has won 9 Brazil caps to date and is thought to be a contender to make the final cut for his country’s hosting of the World Cup this summer.
