Former Brazil international Juninho Paulista has been casting his eye over the current national team and believes Luiz Felipe Scolari and co can win the World Cup.

The legendary Middlesborough playmaker was talking to Lancenet about the upcoming tournament and unsurprisingly labeled Neymar as the star.

Juninho said: “I think Brazil does have (a chance), it was proved in the Confederations Cup, especially in the game against Spain.

“I think Brazil rescued confidence in the Confederations Cup, the players themselves, we saw the spirit they had in this competition, and I’m sure this will be repeated in the World Cup.

“Despite being a young team the players have some experience in the international competition for their clubs, but that is different.”

The 41-year-old praised the mentality of Barcelona forward Neymar and also talked about Shakhtar Donetsk attacker Bernard, a youngster many have likened to Juninho.

“The greatest figure of this team is Neymar,” Juninho said.

“We see that he has no vanity, he is also motivated on the pitch and this motivates his team mates, he always has the intention of winning.

“They comment a bit on Bernard, right? Perhaps, we have the same attributes.

“He does play a bit more forward than I did, I was further back, with the ball coming back.”
