Gremio won what was effectively a dead rubber in their final Copa Libertadores Group 6 against Nacional of Colombia, winning the section by four points and remaining undefeated in the process.

The side from Porto Alegre finished the Round Robin stage of the tournament on 14 points after four wins and two draws and eased past their opponents courtesy of a penalty from Argentine striker Hernan Barcos after 13 minutes.

In a relatively otherwise low-key game, Gremio narrowly won the shots on target count five to three, with perhaps one eye on their big gaucho 1 final on Sunday against perennial rivals Internacional, where they will be bidding to win the regional championship for 37th the time.
