Paris Saint-Germain crashed out of the Champions League on Tuesday night as Chelsea managed to overturn a two-goal deficit from the first leg to progress into the semi-finals, and former Blues defender Alex admits he and his team mates only have themselves to blame.

The Brazilian defender felt his side didn’t perform like they can at Stamford Bridge and ultimately paid for it.

Alex, who was once a Chelsea player, was disappointed with the lack of aggression PSG displayed.

Goal.com quoted the former national team defender, he said: “We conceded the first goal too easily and in the second half they started to put pressure on us.

“I know how difficult it is for opponents to play here. We didn’t start with enough aggression like we played at home.

“Scoring the first goal near the end of the first half was very important for them.

“It was very difficult for us and all the players are sad. We were confident of getting a good result but we did not play like we can and we paid for it.”
