Carlos Tevez should be selected by Argentina for this summer’s World Cup, according to former Albiceleste forward Ariel Ortega.

The 30 year-old has been in excellent form for Juventus this season, netting 18 goals in 39 appearances.

Despite his proficiency as club level however, Tevez has continually been overlooked by Argentina head coach Alejandro Sabella.

Ortega, who played at three World Cups [1994, 1998, 2002], believes the former Corinthians striker is worthy of a recall.

"Tevez has done so much this season with Juventus," he told Radio De La Red.

"Personally, I think he deserves his place in the squad, and maybe even the team.

"He’s played a great season in Italy and has adapted to Serie A really well."
