Freddy Rincón: Playing in Brazil is a “huge motivation” for Colombia
Former Colombia international Freddy Rincón believes playing the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil is a “huge motivation” for Los Cafeteros.
The 47 year-old, who was capped 84 times between 1990 and 2001, spent much of his playing career in Brazil.
Rincón expects Colombia to benefit from a strong local support and suggests the similarities between Brazil and their homeland should mean the players are comfortable with the surroundings.
“It’s a huge motivation playing in Brazil,” he told FIFA.com. “This affinity can be a big help. The Colombians know the country well; it’s not so different from ours.
“I’m sure Colombia will be made welcome and will feel at home. Brazil is home to over 10,000 Colombian immigrants, and the two countries will be gunning to show that their shared passion for playing beautiful football can take them far.”
