The new head coach of Fluminense, Cristovao Borges, will not continue negotiations for the club’s striker Rafael Sobis to leave for Botafogo, according to reports in the Brazilian media.

Sobis was thought to be on the way to signing for the Rio de Janeiro Black and Whites alongside Emerson Sheik but it now seems that the latter will be the only transfer taking place for now.

Brazil international Sobis, who has three caps to his name, is a popular figure at Fluminense and Borges clearly wants to assess the squad he has inherited before making any decisions on the playing staff.

Rafael Sobis is a well travelled attacker, who has enjoyed spells in Spain with Real Betis and in the Middle East. He has so far won the Carioca state championship and Campeonato Brasileiro in his time at Fluminense.
