After defeat at home to Unión Española on Wednesday night in the Copa Libertadores, Botafogo have a tough task ahead of them in next week’s final group stage match.

Fogão must go to Argentina and secure at least a draw against San Lorenzo to progress to the knock-out phases, although an Independiente del Valle win at Unión Española could knock them out.

The latter result seems unlikely but Botafogo head coach Eduardo Hungaro won’t be taking anything for granted and is aiming to win in Argentina next week.

Hungaro told Lancenet: “I do not have to think about a draw, we have to go there to play and see if the result will qualify us or not, I have a lot of hope.

“Remember that today we are second and if it ended now we would qualify.

“The game of football is a game of imposition but let’s try to impose ourselves, be better than them and play to seek victory.

“Why? Because a draw does not give us complete assurance, we depend on the outcome of Independiente del Valle against Unión Española. If they get a victory over two goals, a draw does not qualify us.”

Hungaro knows exactly what his side requires to qualify and it seems he will be going all out to end Botafogo’s horrid away run in the Libertadores.
