Fluminese have brought in Cristóvão Borges to replace Renato Gaúcho as their new head coach.
The 54 year-old, who has previously managed Vasco da Gama, had a successful spell as a player for Flu in the 1980s and his past with the club attracted owner Peter Siemsen.
“We wanted a coach who has history at the club and knows it well,” he said, as reported by Xinhuanet.
Gaúcho, a coach who has held the Fluminense hot seat on numerous occasions, was dismissed after a poor showing in the Rio de Janeiro state championship.
