The former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder has praised the club’s captain ahead of tonight’s Champions League clash against Chelsea in Paris.

David Beckham thinks PSG have every chance of progressing to the semi-finals of Europe’s elite club competition and has praised the personnel at the club.

"The owners that run the club, they want the best and they’ve got the best," the former Manchester United and Real Madrid man told beIN Sport.

"The position they’re in, they’ve got such a strong unit with strong players."

The 38-year-out picked out Brazil captain Thiago Silva and Sweden captain Zlatan Ibrahimovic for special praise.

"Thiago Silva, for instance, is the best defender in the world," said Beckham of the 29-year-old Brazilian.

"Zlatan is a character but he’s also one of the best players I’ve ever played with. He’s a great man. He’s a player that I loved playing with."

The former England international added he has fond memories of his time in Paris.

"I was welcomed by the club with open arms, it was an incredible six months."

Beckham was quick to warn against complacency, however, insisting that a Chelsea under Mourinho is formidable opposition for any team.

"I think they’ve got a real chance in the Champions League this year. They’re coming up against a Chelsea team with Jose Mourinho as manager, who takes them to a different level."

"But I do think [PSG] have a good chance," he completed.
