Atlético Madrid defender Filipe Luís insists he is “going to keep on fighting” for a World Cup place
Atlético Madrid defender Filipe Luís insists he is “going to keep on fighting” for a World Cup place.
The 28 year-old, who has been capped four times by Brazil, was part of the squad that won the 2013 Confederations Cup, but has since fallen out of favour.
Filipe admits that it may be difficult to change head coach Luiz Felipe Scolari’s mind at this late stage, but remains hopeful of earning a spot in his 23 man squad.
“If I said I was happy about not being called up, I’d be lying,” Filipe told FIFA.com. “I’m pretty sure Felipão has more or less got the squad picked in his mind, but I’m going to keep on fighting till the end to make that list.
“Like he said, anyone who doesn’t give their all for their club won’t be going to the World Cup.”
