Defender João Miranda is hoping his success with Atlético Madrid can him a place in Luiz Felipe Scolari’s World Cup squad.

The 29 year-old, who has been capped seven times by Brazil, is a key member of an Atlético side that sits top of La Liga and is in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Miranda believes he has proven he is capable of playing for the Seleção and is confident that he will be selected if Atlético continue to impress.

“This is a crucial time in terms of getting into the squad and obviously it’s good to be getting the kind of visibility we are enjoying at the moment, with Atlético doing so well,” he told FIFA.com

“I am thinking about a place in the team because I know I’m good enough and I’ve been producing the kind of form needed to get into A Seleção.”
