The notion that Chelsea defender David Luiz could leave the club this summer is hardly new; rumours about his future have abounded for most of this season, with Barcelona and PSG mooted as the most likely destinations of a transfer.

Such suggestions have been met on the whole with short shrift but, according to reports in the English media, the Stamford Bridge outfit are now preparing to sell up and raise the necessary funds for a summer revamp.

Financial Fair Play regulations will mean a need for closer monetary restrictions and a fee of anything up to £30 million would give Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho the clout and ability to bring in at least two replacements.

Diego Costa of Atletico Madrid is the name most linked with a move to the Bridge and Chelsea are in dire need of more firepower up front after a testing season for their stiking triumvirate of Samuel Eto’o, Fernando Torres and Demba Ba.
