The Real Madrid defender has revealed his pride at being seen as one of the senior players at the Bernabeu.

Marcelo is considered one of the leaders of Los Blancos, alongside the likes of Iker Casillas, Sergio Ramos and Pepe, and has already worn the armband on a number of occasions.

“My best memory is when I signed for Real Madrid, because when they said I was going to sign for them, I didn’t believe it,” he told Entrevista Mahou.

“It was a spectacular moment. The warmth and closeness of the people of Madrid were the most surprising aspects of moving to the Spanish capital.”

The 25-year-old has already made 261 appearances for the Spanish giants following his move from Fluminense in 2006.

“I feel like a Madrileño. I’ve been here since I was 18. It’s a long time and I feel like I’m from Madrid.”

“I’m still young in football but it gives me so much pride to be one of the captains of Real Madrid.”

“It is a great responsibility because I’m a role-model for all children who love football,” completed the Brazil international.
