Diego Costa has fired a warning shot to Tuesday’s Champions League rivals Barcelona by insisting that Atletico Madrid are ready for the challenge of beating one of Europe’s top sides.
The Brazil-born striker, who will represent Spain at this summer’s World Cup, told his club’s official website: “Barcelona is Barcelona, a team that has for many years shown that it is the best in the world.”
“We know that to win we have to play well, be very compact and defend together, because they can create a small chance to score out of nowhere.”
“We need to make a good start there, to bring a good result for the second match. We are in our best moment. Let’s get something big this year.”
The huge tie will see many Brazilians face each other, including Costa and Diego at Atletico, and Dani Alves and Neymar from Barcelona.
