Atletico Madrid defender Miranda has told reporters that his side will do evrything in their power to halt Barcelona when the sides meet over two legs in the quarter finals of the Champions League, starting this Tuesday.
The Brazilian centre back, who still harbours hopes of a World Cup call up, said: “Yes, Barcelona are favourites, but favourites do not always win.”
“Barcelona has a great team that is a championship contender in the Champions League and we are a “sniper”, we will try anything to make it happen. We have to have personality, because Barcelona is a great team”
“Favouritism weighs, but on the field we are eleven versus eleven.”
Atletico can draw some inspiration from the fact that they lead Spain’s domestic league going in to the final stretch of the season, but a two-legged victory over the Catalan side would propel the side from the capital into double contenders themselves.
