FIFA Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed who he believes are the favourites for this summer’s World Cup.

The Real Madrid sensation was speaking at a sponsor’s event about this summer’s tournament and stated that he believes Portugal aren’t under any kind of pressure.

AS English quoted the 29-year-old’s views on the World Cup, he said: “I hope we have a great World Cup, we aren’t under pressure as the favourites are Brazil, Spain, Argentina and Germany. The first game is important as it is against a big nation in Germany.”

Although maybe the four team’s the Portuguese captain labeled as the “favourites” won’t surprise many, the openness to insist that Portugal have no pressure is bemusing.

Ronaldo’s nation might not possess the caliber of players that the four aforementioned have but nevertheless they have some superb footballers among their ranks. They also have an excellent record at international tournaments over the last ten years.

It seems this could be the first hint of mind games coming from international players ahead of the World Cup and I am sure this will be the first of many such comments.
