The full-back scored one of the strangest own goals in football history at the Arena Pernambuco on Sunday.

The goal came during a derby match between Recife sides Naútico and Santa Cruz in the Pernambuco State Championship and it was Naútico’s left-back Izaldo that was the villain of the piece.

The hapless full-back first saw his attempted clearance thunder back off his own crossbar before burying the rebound into the roof of his own net as he attempted to head the ball out for a corner.

The goal was crucial; putting Naútico 2-1 behind in a game they eventually lost 5-3.
