Brazilians in Europe: Oscar scores double in Chelsea rout
Brazilians all over Europe enjoyed success at the weekend with various Samba stars finding the net to help their clubs win matches with Chelsea’s Oscar enjoying himself as the Blues beat title rivals Arsenal 6-0.
Germany: Raffael scores 14th Bundesliga goal of the season
It was a family affair in Germany where Borussia Mönchengladbach hosted Hertha Berlin in the Bundesliga.
Mönchengladbach’s Raffael went up against younger brother Ronny and it was the elder sibling that came out on top. Raffael scoring his 14th league goal of the season to earn his team a 3-0 win.
England: Oscar scores twice as Chelsea demolish Arsenal
José Mourinho made sure Arsène Wenger would never forget his 1,000th game in charge of Arsenal for all the wrong reasons and his side ran out 6-0 winners at Stamford Bridge.
Oscar scored twice against the Gunners to return to form and pay back the faith shown in him by Mourinho whilst David Luiz lined up in midfield and was his destructive best.
Meanwhile in the north of England Fernandinho helped Manchester City continue their title charge by scoring in their 5-0 win over Fulham.
Portugal: Lima double keeps Benfica on course for title
Benfica hosted Académica on Sunday and swatted them aside with ease as they cruised to a 3-0 win thanks to a first half double from Lima. It keeps the Eagles on course for the title.
On Friday night Marcelo scored to help Rio Ave secure a 1-1 draw against Braga whilst Sporting Lisbon earned themselves a 3-1 win over Maritimo on Saturday with Jefferson adding the third.
Russia: Ari scores hat-trick against former club
Krassnodar defeated Spartak Moscow 4-0 at the weekend thanks to a stunning hat-trick from forward Ari. The 28-year-old was playing against his former team and came back to haunt them as he scored twice inside the opening ten minutes before another Brazilian Wánderson found the net next. Ari did grab the match ball though when he scored his third in the 50th minute.
Whilst Aílton opened the scoring from the penalty spot for Terek Grozny as they beat Kuban Krasnodar 2-1 on Sunday afternoon.
Ukraine: Matheus strike helps Dnipro beat Shakhtar
Shakhtar Donetsk fell to a home loss on Saturday as Dnipro beat them 2-0 with 31-year-old Matheus grabbing the second in the 83rd minute.
Meanwhile Metalurh Donetsk blitzed Zorya 4-0 with Junior Moraes added their third goal – his tenth goal in the Ukraine Premier League this season.
