In a confusing day for Brazilian football, Corinthians have finished top of the table. Defeat to Goias 3-2 wasn’t important as 2nd placed Internacional lost 1-0 to Coritiba.

But it appears this years championship winner could be decided in the court room as the CBF has been prohibited by a court from declaring a league champion on Sunday.

The Judge ruled that the CBF cannot officially declare a champion until the sports tribunal’s decision to replay 11 Brazilian league matches because of match-fixing allegations is fully analyzed.

“There is a need for more information to make a decision,” Borba told Radio Gaucha. “It’s a complex matter, which cannot be dealt with in a hurry.”

Meanwhile at the foot of the table; Coritiba, Atlético-MG, Paysandu-PA and Brasiliense-DF all have been relegated.
